Foreign Milk Powder Imports Soar in the first half of 2011  


Learned from China Dairy Fair on Sep. 15th, that China’s foreign milk powder imports soared. Imports volume in the first half of this year has outnumbered that in the the total year of 2009, according to the statistics, China has been the largest milk powder market all over the world.

Demand for foreign milk powder has expanded dramatically since the year 2008, learned from China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce. China’s milk powder imports reached 140, 000 tons in 2008, soared to 310, 000 tons in 2009 with an increase of 121 percent year on year and surged to 480, 000 tons in 2010 with a growth of 55 percent year on year. The year 2011 still keeps a strong growth momentum.
